Greet the solstice of Charleston Yoga Fest

The summer solstice is a time for us to rebalance and prosper in the joys of life. When the sun rises to the highest point in the sky, Charleston will gather to greet the solstice, celebrating our connection and the light that is within each one of us. This meeting is an opportunity to practice with the teachers of the most important yoga studios in Charleston. Experience meditation, 108 greetings in the sun, practical adjustments and live music with the feeling of reggae, Mystic Vibrations. Salute the Solstice Charleston Yoga Fest is open to all levels and abilities, and admission includes yoga classes and loot bag. T-shirts are not included and can be purchased from members of the yoga community. Yoga and live music begin at 6pm. A yoga class for children will be offered at the same time.

There is a lot to learn about climbing; Get up, learn the lingo and start can be intimidating. But it does not have to be. In this class, you will receive expert instruction on the basic concepts of climbing, the opportunity to meet and learn with other new climbers and a general description of our facilities. This 90 minute class will help you start your new adventure with a 1: 9 instructor in proportion of students and work in small groups and classmates. Instruction is carried out on both ropes and boulders, and the class also includes equipment rental!

Students will practice pushing, carving, maintaining momentum, turning and how to fall properly. Helmets are required and pads are recommended. Advanced participants must have previously completed at least one Junior Lifeguard Program session. Swim tests will take place throughout the program.

We’ll then utilize our new knowledge and skills to ride some of Charleston’s local trail systems. Campers will also get to know the historic Pacific Island craft known as standup paddleboard. They will learn how to paddle properly and will be introduced to simple rescue techniques and safety protocols from a trained instructor.

Trained camp staff will provide instruction in proper paddling techniques, wet exits, and kayak rescues. After obtaining confidence and comfort on the lake, training will culminate in a day paddle in one of our beautiful Charleston-area waterways. Spending so much time outdoors, it only makes sense that we learn about the environment in which we are having fun. As Earth Rangers, we’ll dig deeper into the flora and fauna of Charleston to gain a better understanding of the natural world around us.
