‘Boots & BBQ Bash’

Bringing a taste of Southern food and fun to Southport, the Trinity Episcopal Church announced today that it will hold a new fundraiser for the entire community, Boots & BBQ Bash, Saturday night, on the 28th of September. To accommodate the large number of anticipated attendees, the event will take place across the street from the Church, in the auditorium of the Pequot Library. The event is open to all; no affiliation with the Church is required. On-site childcare will be provided by Trinity’s Youth Group during the fundraiser. Boots & BBQ Bash will be an informal and fun night, with a Southern-style buffet of barbecue and drinks, country dancing, southern rock and other dance music, as well as a live auction. Auction items will include a variety of unique experiences, including a Vermont cabin getaway, fly fishing lessons, plane flights, and an air climbing package for 10, to name a few. All proceeds will go to support the operations of the Church throughout the year. Tickets cost $ 45 per person, which includes a drink. Cowboy boots are recommended, but not required.

Honoring a Sandy Hook victim

On Saturday, October 5 at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion in Penfield Beach, there will be a celebration in honor of the life of Jessica Rekos. Jessica Rekos was one of the victims in Sandy Hook and the playground in Penfield was built and dedicated in her honor. City to celebrate Drive Electric Week
